A-Z of Dating

Ok so I can hear everyone collectively saying, what the hell is that supposed to mean?!? And what does it have to do with dating?

Well lets start off with where that came from. Every geek should know about this. But for those of you not part of the ohsogeeky tribe I’ll elaborate.
In the movie “The Matrix” the character Neo is taken to see the Oracle. Whilst there he sees this kid bending spoons and the following dialogue ensues.

Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you’ll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

Like Neo, those of you that are on the quest to find yourselves special someone, you must realize the truth.

First of all not everyone needs to find this truth. Some of you will probably already know this. However this article is mostly geared towards people struggling with dating. This here is for you.

So what is the truth that I’m speaking of? It’s something that’s pretty simple. And quite honestly it took me while to fully comprehend it. But once I did it made perfect sense. There was the “AHA!” moment and everything was made clear.

And maybe you will get this truth at first reading. Others probably not. But once you do you will realize that I’m correct. So then lets get on with it. What is the truth?

The truth is no amount of diners, clubbing, dancing, drinks, gifts, affection, sex, whining, hanging around, money or begging is ever going to make someone like you. In fact it might drive the person you want to be with away.

This is the absolute truth. If you don’t believe this truth you will fail at dating. If you’re saying that this is bullshit then just stop reading the article and go read something else. However if you want to learn more about the truth keep reading.

Well now that you’ve learned the truth and take a look at some of your past dating experiences you will see that it makes sense. Guys that suffer from “Nice Guy” syndrome. The guys that David DeAngelo calls wusses fit this bill to a T. I have fallen into this trap myself and it’s definitely a trap. It’s a physical, emotional and mental trap that we get into and sometimes it’s close to impossible to get out.

But there is hope and that hope lays with realizing this truth. Once this truth is realized you’ll be bending spoons without a second thought. In part 2 I will discuss what you have to do to make the change.
